ST. LOUIS – The Mississippi River has fallen below 30 feet on the Chester gage, but remains three feet above flood stage.
It was at 29.54 Sunday. It was expected to fall to 29 feet even today, then rise slightly to 29.1 Tuesday, fall to 28.4 Wednesday and fall to 27.4 Thursday.
The river is expected to fall below the 27.0 foot flood stage Friday when it drops to 26.2, eight-tenths of a foot below flood stage.
The high water has idled the Ste. Genevieve Modoc Ferry which has suspended service.
