Jackson woman is hurt in Highway 51 crash

JEFFERSON CITY — A 49-year-old Jackson woman suffered minor injuries in a traffic crash on Highway 51 in Perry County Tuesday afternoon.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Emily A. Tripp was taken to Mercy Hospital Perry for treatment.

 

The patrol says the crash happened when the 17-year-old driver of a 2000 Chevrolet 1500 failed to see a stopped 2004 Chevrolet Impala driven by Tripp. The pick up struck the rear of the Impala. The pickup came to rest facing north in a ditch on the right side of the highway. The Impala came to rest blocking the northbound lane of Highway 51.

 

Both drivers were buckled up.

 

The crash happened about 3:25 p.m. south of Perry County Road 600.

 

The Impala was a total loss.

 

The pick up had extensive damage.

 

Both vehicles were towed by Perry County Towing.
