A new quiet haven at the Ste. Genevieve County Library

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve County Library is proud to unveil an exciting new addition that will provide a peaceful oasis for our community – the Shushbooth!

Thanks to a generous donation, library officials are thrilled to be one of the first in the region to offer this innovative quiet space.

Whether you need a distraction-free zone for remote work, a private tutoring nook for students, or just a tranquil escape to study or read, the Shushbooth has you covered. This versatile space can adapt to fit your needs with its flexible seating, workstation, power outlets, and sound-minimizing design.

“We understand that finding truly quiet places can be a challenge, especially in our busy rural community,” said Library Director Shawn Long. “The Shushbooth will allow patrons of all ages a tech-friendly, yet calm environment to focus without interruptions.”

The Shushbooth can accommodate everyone from teleworkers to study groups, musicians practicing instruments, or anyone simply craving a hushed retreat. Its customizable setup enables multiple uses within the same compact space.

“Our patrons asking for more quiet areas really motivated us to make this a priority,” Long explained. “Thanks to a kind donor who appreciated that need, the Shushbooth is finally a reality here.”

Stop by the Ste. Genevieve County Library soon to experience this innovative new quiet haven for yourself! With the Shushbooth, we aim to make the library’s resources more accessible and versatile for our wonderful community.
