Ste. Genevieve elementary, middle school students win local VFW Auxiliary contests

STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve elementary and Ste. Genevieve middle school students were recognized with awards for contests sponsored by the local VFW Auxiliary No. 2210.

 

“Illustrating America” Art Contest

 

 

Lois Flieg, VFW Auxiliary Youth Activities and Scholarship Chairperson; fifth grader Emmett Abts; and Betty Stretch, VFW Auxiliary 2210 President.

 

Grades 3 – 5: First place went to fifth grader Emmett Abts,

Grades 3 – 5: Second place went to fifth grader Myla Meyer.

Grades 6 – 8: First place went to eighth grader Kinsley Bowers

 

Grades 6 – 8: Second place went to eighth grader Cadence Lanterman.

 

Students have the opportunity to utilize their creativity and artistic expression. Entries are judged on patriotic theme and technique. These students received cash prizes, and their artwork was advanced to the state-level competitions.

 

“Get Excited for the Red, White and Blue” Singing Contest

 

 

Lois Flieg, VFW Auxiliary Youth Activities and Scholarship Chairperson; third grader Rain Hampton; and Betty Stretch, VFW Auxiliary 2210 President.

 

First place went to third grader Rain Hampton.

 

Participants must submit a video solo vocal performance of the national anthem. Rain received a cash prize, and her performance was advanced to the state-level competition.
