Ste. Genevieve’s April 4th Friday will feature art…and bikes

STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve’s 4th Friday Art Walk is set for April 26 and this month’s event will preview the Gravel Classic bike race scheduled for Saturday morning…including a chance for adults and kids to win prizes in a “bling your bike” competition.

(Tune Classic Country 980 am and 105.3 fm KSGM for a Focus interview featuring a preview of the Fourth Friday Artwalk.)

The monthly Art Walk showcases the work of local and regional artists, offers a chance to meet them, and in some art spaces an opportunity to see them at work.

On the courthouse square new work by members of the Ste. Genevieve Art Guild will be on display at the Art Center, some of it celebrating Spring and endangered species. Silver Sycamore Gallery of Fine Art also will be open.

Some dozen artists will be displaying and selling their work in and around Main Street Park in the  “Little Bohemia” neighborhood. (Little Bohemia includes businesses, lodgings and residences located along North Main Street from just south of Jefferson to just north of Washington.)

In the same area Only Child Originals, Rust and E•KleK•Tix will feature original art. Food, beverages and art will be offered at Le Comptoir General.

And Little Bohemia is getting a jump on Saturday’s Gravel Classic bike race. Adults and kids are invited to decorate their bikes to enter the “bling your bike” competition. (Decorated bikes can be entered at participating art spaces in Little Bohemia beginning at 4 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at 8 p.m.) Bikes decorated by local artists will be on display.

Others can join the fun by helping to “bling” a bike at Music Art Love, where artists Steve and Kathy Hicks will be showing work and Allie Wolk will perform live music.

A “baby bike” giveaway is planned at E•KleK•Tix.

Neighborhood restaurants will be open.

The Art Walk ends at 9 p.m. Most Art Walk activities are free and open to everyone.
