Ste. Genevieve High School Senior Gabe Willett Signs with McKendree University

STE GENEVIEVE, Mo. – On Thursday, April 11, Ste. Genevieve High School senior Gabe Willett signed a national letter of intent to compete on the wrestling team at McKendree University.

 

 

Gabe is the son of Stephanie and Matthew Willett.

 

In attendance were his parents; his grandfather, Bill Harmon; his sister and teammate Maggie Price; his girlfriend and teammate Paityn Basler; SGHS Head Coach Jared Bonnell, Coach Justin Roth, Coach Kaylee Gross and SG R-II Athletic Director Dr. Jeff Nix. Gabe’s friends and teammates Russell Clayton, Jack Farlow, Wyatt Kemper, Dalton McBride, Aiden Meyer, Mason Nix, Wyatt Springkamper, Grant Williams, and Evan Winters also attended to show their support. Congratulations, Gabe!

 

Baseball

 

PERRYVILLE – St. Vincent beat Crystal City 13-0 Friday and downed Jefferson 11-1 Saturday in the Oak Ridge Tournament Saturday.

 

The Indians host Oak Ridge Tuesday at 4:30.

 

STE GENEVIEVE — Ste Genevieve lost to Park Hills 6-4 Friday.

 

The Dragons host Festus at 4:30 today.

 

STE. GENEVIEVE – Valle defeated Hazelwood West 4-3 and Greenville 6-5 Friday and beat Festus 3-2 Saturday in the Farmington Wooden Bat Tournament Saturday.

 

The Warriors play at Kelly today at 4:30.

 

PERRYVILLE – Perryville  plays Scott City today at 4:30.

 

CHESTER – Chester hosts Carlyle Tuesday at 4:30.

 

Softball

 

STE. GENEVIEVE – Valle host Clearwater Tuesday at 4:30.

 

STE GENEVIEVE — Ste. Genevieve topped Kennett 4-3 Saturday.

 

Ava Greer struck out 11 and hit a three-run homerun in the top of the seventh with two away.

 

The Dragons lost to East Carter 14-3 at Kennett also on Saturday.

 

 

Ste. Genevieve has drawn the No. 1 seed for the MAAA Conference Tournament which begins today. The Dragons will play Kingston at home at 4 p.m.

 

CHESTER – Chester hosts Carlyle Tuesday at 4:30.

 

Soccer

 

PERRYVILLE – St. Vincent played in the Fralish Cup Tournament at Carbondale Friday and Saturday but no scores were reported.

 

The Lady Indians host Poplar Bluff today at 5 p.m.

 

PERRYVILLE – Perryville played in the Lady Pirate Invitational at Hannibal Friday and Saturday but no scores were reported.

 

The Lady Pirates play at North County Tuesday at 5 p.m.

 

Golf

 

PERRYVILLE – St. Vincent varsity defeated Windsor and Herculaneum Friday.

 

The Indians had a 170, the Owls had a 193 and the Blackcats had a 222.

 

Individually: Payton Strattman and Sam Koishor led the Indians with 39s, Logan Hornberger had a 45, Colden Prost had a 47,Garrett Brickhaus had a 49 and Collin Wheeler had a 51.

 

The St. Vincent junior varsity also beat Windsor and Herculaneum.

 

St. Vincent had a 200, Windsor had a 217 and Herculaneum had a 249.

 

Individual scores:

 

Adam Brickhaus led with a 45, Elliott Wibbenmeyer had a 47, Quinton Doza and Boston Tarillion each had a 54, Jake Christisen had a 60 and Gage Barnes had a 61.

 

St. Vincent plays Perryville and St. Pius today at Crystal Highlands at 3 p.m.

 

The Indians play Perryville and St. Pius today. 

 

STE. GENEVIEVE — Ste. Genevieve plays North County, Potosi, and Fredericktown at North County at 4 p.m. Tuesday. 

 

On Tuesday the boys golf team finished 4th with a score of 211.

 

Aiden Roth was the low scorer with a 49.

 

Ste. Gen also finished 13th out of 20 teams in its home tourney.

 

Low scores were Maddon Wolk with an 88, Aiden Roth with a 98, and Chase Yamnitz tied with Jeremiah Kunz with a 100.

 

STE. GENEVIEVE — Valle plays at the St. Pius Invitational Wednesday.

 

Track and field

 

CHESTER – The Chester Lady Jackets placed third out of 15 teams at the Wesclin Keith Hall Invitational Saturday.

 

Aubrey Coleman set a new long jump record at 17’8”, breaking a record held by Jessica Roth at 17’7 1/4”.

 

Chester hosts the Rocky Bridges Invitational Tuesday at 4 p.m.

 

STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve hosts the Taylor Werner Invitational Wednesday. St. Vincent and Valle will be among the teams taking part.

 

STE. GENEVIEVE – The unified track meet at Ste. Genevieve scheduled for last Thursday has been rescheduled for this Thursday.
