Re-elected, elected members of SG Board of Aldermen sworn in

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen met Thursday for its reorganization following the April 2 municipal election.

 

Four members of the board were re-elected to new two-year terms Ward 1 Alderman Patrick Fahey, Ward 2 Alderman Robert “Bob” Donovan, Ward 3 Alderman Jeff Eydmann and Wrd 4 Alderman Joe Prince.

 

Amie Dobbs was elected to a one-year term as Ward 1 alderman with six write in votes after no one filed for the post before filing ended. There were six write in candidates: Linda Smith received five votes, Susan Johnson and Gary Smith each had two votes and Jerome Klein, Kara Burt and Mark Buchheit each had one vote. Three voters forgot to write in the name of the candidate they were voting for, though they did cast votes.

 

 

The re-elected and newly-elected members of the board were sworn-in by City Clerk Pam Meyer.

 

 

Aldermen Joe Steiger was absent.

 

Reports were presented by City Administrator Happy Welch, Fire Chief Kenny Steiger and Assistant City Administrator David Bova.

 

The items on the consent agenda were approved unanimously.

 

These included:

 

Resolution 2024-25 for the filing of a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation.

 

Street closure requested for Second Street between Market and Merchant Streets by the Felix Valle House State Historic Site for a rural heritage event 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. October 26.

 

Consent agenda was approved.

 

Old Business: 

 

Bill No. 4613 – an agreement with Republic Services for trash hauling from city buildings. 2nd reading passed. 7 yes, 0 no, 1 absent.

 

Bill No. 4614 – a budget amendment. 2nd reading passed. 7 yes, 0 no, 1 absent.

 

New Business: 

 

Pam Meyer was re-appointed city clerk.

 

Low Bid $26,600 was approved for repointing and masonry repair at 58 S. Main Street.

 

Bill No. 4615 – Calling for a $10 million bond issue for improvement of city streets, including a n ew subdivision on an extension of Basler Drive. 1st reading passed. 

 

Bill No. 4616 – an agreement between the city, the levee district and the U.S. Department of the Interior. 1st reading passed.

 

The regular meeting was followed by a work session.
