A memorial service Wednesday, April 17, 2024 for 94-year-old Robert “Bob” M. McConkey of Chester, Ill., who passed away at 11:58 pm, Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Three Springs Senior Living and Rehabilitation, Chester, Illinois.
He was born October 5, 1929 in Rockwood, Ill., a son of Lacy and Sarah (nee Curless) McConkey. His parents preceded him in death.
Bob married Loretta Althoff on August 19, 1951 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; she survives in Chester.
He had owned and operated McConkey Motors in Chester, Illinois for more than 20 years.
Bob was of Christian faith.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 487 and the Masonic Lodge No. 72 in Chester.
Bob was also a Shriner.
He enjoyed cars, spending time with his wife Loretta and traveling.
He was a United States Army Veterans of the Korean War.
He is also survived by many cousins and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a son: Dennis McConkey and two sisters: Annalee McMath and Betty Kattenbraker.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the Pechacek Funeral Home, Chester, Ill.
