A funeral will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 for 87-year-old Shirley M. Holcomb of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 12:40 pm, Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Three Springs Senior Living and Rehabilitation in Chester, Illinois.
She was born January 3, 1937 in Steeleville, a daughter to the late Alfred and Elda (nee Fraembs) Weaver.
Shirley married Lester Holcomb on September 11, 1957 in Murphysboro, Illinois; he preceded her in death on March 13, 2005.
She is survived by a son: Orville (Donna) Holcomb of Perryville, Mo.; a grandchild: Jamie Holcomb;
a great-grandchild: Dawson Miller; two nieces: Robin Weaver of Chester, Ill. and Anna Weaver Chester, Ill.; a great niece: Niki McConnell of Ziegler, Ill.; two great nephews: Michael Jausel Andover, Kans. and Scot Jausel of Pinkneyville, Ill.; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by: four brothers: Elroy, Ambrose, Charles and Donald, and two sisters: Alvina and Dorothy.
She had cleaned for Gilster Mary-Lee Corporation for 32 years.
Shirley was a member of the First Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Chester, Illinois.
She enjoyed watching soap operas and game shows, doing word searches and gardening.
Shirley loved to spend time with her family.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday and 10-11 a.m. Friday, at the Pechacek Funeral Home, Chester, Ill.

Interment will be in the New Palestine Cemetery in Walsh, Ill.
