Lady Jackets place 3rd and YellowJacket boys finish 4th

CHESTER, Ill. – The Chester High School Track and Field Teams opened their 2024 home season Tuesday March 26 at the Chester High School Charles R. Young Memorial Track and Field Complex.
Chester’s Jasmine “Jazzi” Merideth clears her final hurdle Tuesday March 26 in the 100-Meter Hurdle event. It was a rather cold and very windy day with temperatures stating out at 60 degrees at 3:00 p.m., but dropping to approximately 42 degrees when the final race of the day ended at about 7:30 p.m. Athletes and staff alike were extremely uncomfortable by the end of the meet.
Each of the two fields of competition, boy’s and girl’s, featured a total of 18 events. The Girl’s Division had eight teams competing while the Boy’s Division had nine teams in competition.
The Chester Lady Jackets placed 3rd out of the field of eight teams while the YellowJacket boys finished 4th out of nine teams. Both CHS teams had several very impressive performances for the day, especially considering it was only the second meet of the 2024 Track and Field Season.

Lady Jacket’s Results
There were eight individuals and all four of the Lady Jacket relay teams that earned points toward the CHS 72 point total that contributed the 3rd Place finish for the Jackets.
Individual contributors included Jasmine Merideth (2nd, 4th, 3rd); Gianna Eggemeyer (2nd); Jessica Stumpe (1st tie); Erin Liefer (4th); Lillian Diskey (4th); Aubrey Coleman (5th); Lauren Cowell (4th); and Riley Lochhead.

Chester Boy’s Results
Enroute to their 88-point 4th Place finish, the YellowJacket Boys featured five individuals and all four of their relay teams.
Individuals included Lannin Caron who won the Pole Vault; Cayden Brunkhorst who had two 2nd Place finishes, a 3rd Place finish and a 4th Place finish. Gabe Coffman recorded three 3rd Place finishes, Ivan Hobbs who finished 2nd; zx and Anthony Armenta placed 5th in one event.
