He was born October 1, 1962 in Lawrence, Kansas a son of Toye D. and Martha Sue (nee Downing) Renfroe.
Gregory married Robin Worstell on March 5, 1982 in Bridgeport, Illinois; she survives in Chester.
She is also survived by three children: Randy (Hillary) Renfroe of Waterloo, Ill., Matthew Renfroe of Edwardsville, Ill. and Jon Renfroe of Chester, Ill.; a brother: Jeff Renfroe of Olathe, Kans.; a sister in law: Mary Carol Hermreck of Garnett, Kansas; and a granddaughter: Madison Renfroe.
He was also preceded in death by: a daughter: Elizabeth Renfroe and a brother: Del Renfroe.
He had worked as a K9 Specialist for the Illinois Department of Corrections for 25 years.
Gregory was a member of Grace Church Ministries where he was involved in the youth group.
He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 72 in Chester.
Gregory enjoyed gaming, doing demonstrations with his police dogs and spending time with his family and dogs.
He was a United States Air Force veteran.

A funeral for 61-year-old Gregory L. Renfroe of Chester, Illinois will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2024 at Grace Church Ministries, Chester, Illinois, Officiating: Pastor Ron Coleman and Brad Coleman.
Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to Fresenius Kidney Care Center and to Grace Church Ministries Youth Group.
