Mason Alexander Kinney

A funeral will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024 for 19-year-old Mason Alexander Kinney of Red Bud, Ill., who passed away at 7:28 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Red Bud Regional Hospital, Red Bud, Ill.

 

He was born June 18, 2004 in Red Bud, Ill. a son of Nathan and Bethany (nee Dannenberg) Kinney, who survive in Red Bud, Ill.

 

He is also survived by a sister: Eva Kinney of Red Bud, Ill.; his grandparents: Myron (Suzanne) Kinney of Sparta, Ill. and Roland and Karen S. Dannenberg of Red Bud, Ill.; his great grandmother: Winona Hampleman of Pinckneyville, Ill.; several aunts and uncles: Noel and Heather Kinney of  Westfield, Ind., Meileigh and James Brubaker Richardville, Virg.; and Matthew (Amy) Dannenberg of Red Bud, Ill.; several cousins: Celby Kinney, Alexis Duran, Dillion Dannenberg, Dalton Dannenberg, Colt Kinney, Ryker Brubaker and Piper Brubaker; his Godparents: Ron Hughes of Red Bud, Ill., Jody Stapleton of Waterloo, Ill. and James Schnepel of Belleville, Ill.

 

He was preceded in death by an infant sibling and a grandmother: Cynthia Kinney.

 

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Red Bud (Prairie), Illinois.

 

He was a 2022 Red Bud High School graduate and participated on the golf and track team.

 

Mason was in his second year at Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin and majoring in History and secondary degree in Lutheran Education.

 

He had been a member of the university track team.

 

Mason’s passion was music. He loved old country and rock music. He was taking guitar lessons while at college.

 

Mason had worked at Schnuck’s in Waterloo, Illinois during his school breaks.

 

He was known for his patience.

 

Mason always put other people first and didn’t want to be the center of attention.

 

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Ill.

 

A funeral for 19-year-old Mason Alexander Kinney of Red Bud, Ill. will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2024 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Ill. Officiating: Rev. Mark Nebel and Rev. Scott Hojnacki.

 

Interment will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Red Bud, Ill.
