A funeral will be held Monday, March 4, 2024 for 86-year-old Delores Helen Oster of Perryville, Mo. who passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at her residence.
She was born August 30, 1937 in Bollinger County, Mo. to John “Howard” and Cleda M. (Mudge) Duvall who preceded her in death.
Delores and Kenneth Oster were married February 26, 1972 in Perryville, Mo. He survives.
Survivors also include children: Darte Flentge, Kent (Sherry) Flentge, Lisa Hadler, and Shawn Oster; two brothers: John (Judy) Duvall and James “Jim” Duvall; a brother-in-law: Jerry Parker; 14 grandchildren: Katrina Laws, Brian Laws, Christopher (Lauren) Flentge, Krystal (Elton) Skipper, Matthew (Kaylee) Flentge, Nicole Flentge, Adam (Lacey) Flentge, Andrew Cooklin, Ashly (Patrick) Presnell, Kelley (Derek) Dobbelare, Joshua (Ashley) Hadler, Jena Oster, Seth Oster, Jace Oster; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son: Terry Flentge; and a sister: Ruth Ann Parker.
She was of the Christian faith.
Delores loved to play bingo, play cards as well as playing the lottery in one form or another.
She was a hard worker all of her life after being born oldest of four children to Howard and Cleda Duvall. One of her earliest roles was walking to the one room school house in winter and getting the wood stove going before the other students arrived.
In her high school years she was hired by a wealthy family and stayed in their home during the week when not in school. She did household chores and helped care for the couple’s children.
Delores also worked at the billfold factory in St Marys and was also a secretary for the Perryville public school cafeteria.
But Delores greatest accomplishment was raising her five children. She always provided second to none home cooked meals and wonderful baked goods. Delores loved her family more than life itself and was loved deeply by them.
Visitation will from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville and continue from 8-10 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2024 at Ford & Young Funeral Home.
A funeral for 86-year-old Delores Helen Oster of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2024 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville with Bro. Don Estes officiating.
Burial will be at Whitewater Christian Cemetery in Perry County.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Whitewater Christian Church or Cemetery.
