A funeral will be held Friday, March 1, 2024 for 79-year-old Alice R. Lyons of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 7:56 am, Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Three Springs Senior Living and Rehabilitation, Chester, Illinois.
She was born May 21, 1944 and was adopted by the late James and Helen L. (nee Calkins) Donelson.
She was then raised by Helen and Robert Binkley.
She is survived by three children: Brenda Meier (Charles Boyce) of Chester, Denise Lyons (David Furlow) of Mulkeytown, and Thomas Lyons of Chester; nine grandchildren: Mason (Trey) Culver, Savannah Meier (Travis Lailer), Briana (David) Rivera, Shaina O’Bryan, Morgan Lyons (Dustin Kemp), T.J. Lyons, Bobby Lyons, Jaydon Lyons and Preston Lyons; eight great grandchildren: Aiden, Isaiah, Donald, Andrew, Jamison, Brooklynn, Trinity and Rowan; a dog: Ellie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter: Brenda, a granddaughter: Allison Meier, a significant other: Roy Gillespie and three brothers and four sisters.
Alice had worked in retail at Sam’s Club before retiring.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Chester, Illinois.
Alice enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, listening to music, reading and animals. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2024 at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester.
