Old Business: None

New Business:

• SGHC010-24 To receive a Certificate of Appropriateness to construct an ADAcompliant ramp to the rear of the house at 465 Market. Applicants, Amy Misplay & Jeremy Dickerson represented by Life Center for Independent Living, were not present. Mr. Bova discussed the application with the commission and shared the plans for the ramp. Commissioner Buchheit made a Motion to Approve the request as presented. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Tucker and passed 5-0.

• SGHC011-24. To receive a Certificate of Appropriateness to replace an existing asbestos-cement roof with an architectural shingle roof at 789 N Main. Tyler Bahr, representing SRS Roofing, was present to discuss his application and answered some questions from the commission. Mr. Bahr presented samples of the proposed roofing material and color; commissioner Tucker asked to see the materials, specifically the style and color.

Commissioner Buchheit asked if the exposed copper valleys would be replaced and Mr. Bahr said that the plan was to remove those and cover with new roofing. Commissioner Hart stated that he would prefer either a 3-tab shingle (with straight edges) or synthetic slate shingles; the synthetic slate would be a very close match to the slate (asbestoscement) that is there now but the 3-tab would be a better approximation to what would have been used in the 1920’s when the home was built (instead of the architectural shingles which attempt to resemble shake roofs). Mr. Bahr stated he did not know that the synthetic slate was available and he would take that information, along with the preference for 3-tab or other straight-edged asphalt roofing back to the owner.

Commissioner Buchheit made a Motion to Approve the request for new roofing with the amendment that straight-edged asphalt shingles are used and that the exposed metal valleys are kept in place.

Commissioner Hart seconded the motion, which passed 5-0.

Administrative Approvals:

• Certificate of Appropriateness – 299 Merchant

Meeting Adjourned: There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:46 pm.
