Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen meets in newly-remodeled chambers for first time

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen met in its newly remodeled board chambers for the first time Thursday.

 

Prior to the official start of the meeting members of the Ste. Genevieve Area Chamber of Commerce joined the aldermen and alderwomen for a ribbon cutting.

Then with the crack of the gavel, the first meeting in the newly-remodeled facilities began.

 

 

As for the official business of the meeting.

 

A public hearing on a two percent rate increase for the sewer and water rates attracted no public comment.

 

 

Consent agenda was approved. Among the items on the consent agenda were the following:

 

The appointment of Christine Alexander and Roseanne Ahne to the Tourism Advisory Council.

 

A property management agreement with Scott Beckerman, Doral and Lynette Parmer, Stephen P. Tucker Jr. and Jessica Tucker, and Tom Schaaf to maintain certain flood buyout properties.

 

Two street closure requests:

 

Third Saturday of the month May through September for a Monthly Car Cruise sponsored by Ste. Gen. Gearheadz Car Club and

 

Saturday, February 24th for the Polar Bear 5K Race sponsored by the Ste. Genevieve County Community Center.

Low bid approval of $132,295 from Jokerst Paving for North 4th Street Drainage/Paving Project passed.

 

Bill No. 4606 – Amending a section of ther city code dealing with the police chief’s appointment, term, salary, removal was tabled.

 

Bill No. 4607 – Increasing the city water rates was given first round approval.

 

Bill No. 4608 – Increasing the city sewer rates was given first round approval.
