A funeral will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 for 94-year-old Evelyn Ann Wittenborn of Chester, Ill. who passed away at 1:35 a.m., Friday, February 23, 2024 at Three Springs Senior Living and Rehabilitation, Chester, Illinois.
She was born January 31, 1930 in Chester to Louis and Marie (nee Bueckman) Blechle who both preceded her in death.
Evelyn married Charles Wittenborn on October 7, 1950 in Chester, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1996.
She is survived by six sons: Dennis Wittenborn (Dava Crump) of Punta Gorda, Fla.; Brad (Michele) Wittenborn of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Bob (Susie) Wittenborn of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Jay (Lisa) Wittenborn of Chester, Ill., Andy (Lee Ann) Wittenborn of West Lafeyette, Ind., and Pat (Joyce) Wittenborn of Oak Ridge, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Rhonda Wittenborn, three sisters: Eileen (Gene) Meyer, Tootie (Carl) Gardiner and Patricia Whistler and a great great grandchild.
She had worked as a secretary for the Randolph County Treasurer for 17 years.
Evelyn was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester where she also served on the altar sodality.
She also enjoyed traveling.
Visitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Chester, Ill.
A funeral mass for 94-year-old Evelyn Ann Wittenborn of Chester will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Chester, Ill. Officiating: Father Sebastian Ukoh.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Chester, Ill.
The family wishes that donations be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or School in Chester, or to the Masses.
