STE. GENEVIEVE – A Valle Catholic High School senior, Camryn Skaggs, has placed first in the District 8 VFW Voice of Democracy contest, sponsored locally by Post 2210 Ste. Genevieve.
She is the daughter of Darren and Dawn Wehner Skaggs.
Camryn presented her essay at the district meeting in Arnold, Mo.
She also attended the annual scholarship banquet in Columbia, Mo. with 14 other district winners.
Camryn placed 10th out of 696 entries in the state.
Students compete in this contest by writing and recording an audio essay on a patriotic theme.
This year’s 2023-2024 theme was, “What Are The Greatest Attributes of Our Democracy?”
