SGCMH to hold “Get your free ticket to Wellness” 2024 Women’s Health Expo

STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH) is gearing up for its annual Women’s Health Expo to be held on Saturday, February 24, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The theme for this year’s fair is “Get Your Ticket to Wellness.” The program will offer ladies of the community a chance to pamper themselves and provide fun opportunities to learn about healthy lifestyles.

“We are excited to host this event each year with more vendors, health education and fun,” said Tina Poston, SGCMH Marketing and Community Relations Director. “We’re ready to show the ladies their tickets to wellness.”

Participants will enjoy learning about healthy living in a fun and interactive way and, meet some of our new providers. The hospital hallways will be filled with vendors sharing lots of great items and activities. Poston said women attend the fair for a variety of reasons, and health information is just one of them.

“We’re going to have a lot of our providers at the expo, so this will be a great chance to meet some of our doctors and nurse practitioners. They’ll be on hand to answer questions and share plenty of health information starting at 8 am the “Candid Coffee Hour” with our providers in the hospital cafeteria.

There will be coffee and pastries for all to enjoy. We have a great line-up of speaker presentations as well including, “Simplify Your Life with a Primary Care Provider” presented by Dr. Sarah Bohnert at 11 a.m.; and our final presentation at noon will be Jacqueline Wolk, FNP, and Regine Politte, FNP who will introduce FORM, a new weight program at SGCMH.”

The event will offer a screening passport that offers a variety of screenings to help women live healthier lives. Free blood pressure checks, pulmonary function tests, and grip strength evaluation with Mid-America Rehab, will add to that portion of the expo.

“We are also offering a lab screening that includes a total cholesterol, HDL, LDL & triglycerides for only $40. Participants must go online to schedule the screening by Friday, February 16 at stegenevievehospital.org,” stated Poston.

There will be lots of hospital departments showing participants the variety services available at the hospital including a careers table for anyone seeking employment.

“Most all of our departments will participate so women can learn how SGCMH services can help them keep their healthy lifestyles. Cardiac Rehab, Respiratory Therapy, Diagnostic Imaging, Food and Nutrition and even Patient Portal,” said Poston. “It’s a great way to get to know the hospital, and all of the resources we offer to the community.”

The event will uplift participants to feel inspired and enjoy so much including exercise classes to indulge themselves in moments of fitness. Exercise classes include Yoga by Lori Schultz, Namaste Empowered and a Tai Boxing class sponsored by the Ste. Genevieve Community Center.

“We’ll even have a little pampering with hair stylists, massage therapists, beauty tips and boutiques,” said Poston.

Poston said another reason women love coming to the expo is for the giveaways.

“We’ll have plenty of those,” she said. ”Everyone attending will receive a giveaway at the door; there will be a door prize drawing after each speaker presentation for those attending presentations as well as most of our vendors have giveaways. Throw in a photo booth, delicious treats, and lunch. It’s a fun-filled morning and early afternoon at the hospital that women have been enjoying for the past 24 years. We hope women come out and enjoy themselves, do and see lots of things, and most of all leave inspired,” said Poston.
