Boys Basketball

PERRYVILLE – Perryville was scheduled to play at De Soto Friday, but the score was not reported.

The team did report that Pirate Jake Cissell made two 3-pointers Friday night against De Soto and now holds the all-time made 3-point field goal record. Tim Schaupert was there to watch Jake break Tim’s 30 year old record!

The Pirates host Scott City Friday at 7 p.m.

PERRYVILLE – St. Vincent lost to St. Pius 66-60 Friday.

Jacob Schremp had 18 points, Max Wheeler 13, Parker Ellis 11, Case Huber six, Payton Strattmann and Colden Prost each had five and Andrew Sherman had two.

The varsity falls to 11-9, 1-2 in the conference.

The junior varsity Indians won 76-43.

Wyatt Winkler had 26 points, Case Huber had 14, Andrew Schumer 13, Gavin Hotop had seven, Quentin Doza had six, and Colden Prost and Max Wheeler each had five.

The JV improves to 12-4 and will join the varsity at Herculaneum Tuesday.

CHESTER – Chester beat visiting Red Bud 39-31 Friday and was scheduled to play DuQuoin Saturday, but that score was not reported.

The Yellowjackets play at Sparta Friday at 7:30 p.m.

STE. GENEVIEVE – No. 5 Ste. Genevieve defeated No. 12 seed Bismarck 70-56 in the first round of the MAAA Tournament at Potosi Saturday.

The Dragons will play No. 4 seed Kingston tonight at 8:30 at Mineral Area College.

STE. GENEVIEVE – No. 8 seed Valle was scheduled to play No. 9 seed Fredericktown in the MAAA Tournament Potosi Saturday, but the score was not reported.

Girls Basketball

STE. GENEVIEVE – No. 7 seed Ste. Genevieve defeated No. 10 seed West County 65-33 in the MAAA Tournament Saturday.

The Dragons play Farmington Tuesday at 4 p.m at Mineral Area College as the tournament continues.

STE. GENEVIEVE – No. 6 seed Valle girls were scheduled to play No. II seed Valley of Caledoia in the MAAA Tournament at Kingston but the score was not reported.

PERRYVILLE – Perryville hosts Windsor tonight in another conference game.

CHESTER – Chester lost at DuQuoin 57-44 Saturday.

The Lady Jackets host Sparta Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Wrestling

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve boys won the championship of the Central Tournament.

First place finishers: Brody Winters, Karter Worley, Drake Meyer, Owen Drury, Evan Winters, Gabe Willett and Jacob Schweigert (100th career varsity win).

Jacob Schweigert recorded his 100th career varsity win Saturday.

Second place finishers: Jace Amschler, Owen Roth and Dalton McBride.

Third place finishers: Cameron Vogt, Madden Wolk and Jacob Warren.

Fifth place finishers: Blake Naeger, Rylan Rayoum, and Ethan Warren.

Sixth place finishers: Colton Brace

Seventh place finisher: Sawyer Bauman.

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve girls won the championship of the Central Tournament, coming in first out of 12 teams.

Hollyn Zangaro and Addison Geiler won their weight class;

Camile Melahn, Paityn Basler, Launa Gegg and Anna Fischer came in second;

Linley Wehner, Maggie Price and Ragan Picou came in third;

and Jaylinn LaPlante and Kacie Schemel came in fourth.

STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve wrestles Cape Central Wednesday.

STE. GENEVIEVE – Valle Catholic came in first in the Lift for Life tournament Saturday.

The Warriors wrestle in the Class 1 District 1 Tournament February 16 and 17.

Dance

CHESTER – The Chester High School Dance Team qualified to advance to the state competition.

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Valle Catholic Warriorettes and the SGHS Emeralds teamed up this season to perform at the boy’s and girls’s varsity basketball games.

Lexy Barley ’15 Allen, Warriorettes head coach, worked with Jaclyn Oechsner, head coach of the Emeralds, to create a dynamic halftime performance that showcased these talented dancers in our school communities.
