He married Jane Stallman. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by two children: Wesley Stallman of Chester, Ill. and Lindsey (Dan) Williams of Glen Carbon, Ill.; two brothers: Don (Linda) Stallman Chester, Ill. and Paul E. (Mary) Stallman of Chester, Ill.; two grandchildren: Henry and Wren Williams; two step children: Amie Boente of Swansea, Ill. and

He was raised in Chester, Illinois as a member of St. John Lutheran Church where he used his voice to praise God for over 60 years.

Following in his family’s footsteps, he became the 5th generation to farm his family’s land, and did so for 50 years.

Steven was blessed with two children, Wesley and Lindsey, during his first marriage; in 2006 Steve married Jane Akers and welcomed her children, Amie and Joe into the family. Steve and Jane shared a love of all things music, whether it be performing or enjoying the talents of others.

During his youth, Steve and his brothers formed a barbershop quartet and enjoyed performing for organizations and churches in the community.

Steve and Jane also enjoyed spending time with family, especially their six grandchildren.

Steve devoted his life to farming and truly loved caring for the land. He believed the land was a gift from God to produce food, and needed to be nurtured and protected for future generations. He was a dedicated and respected member of the farm community, and spent over 40 years with Randolph County Farm Bureau serving four years as director.

Steve also served as the President of the Illinois Wheat Association for four years. The highlight of his Farm Bureau involvement culminated with the honor of being elected to serve on the Illinois State Farm Bureau Board of Directors for nine years.

Steve was passionate in providing education about agriculture to promote the future of the farming profession, even welcoming foreign exchange students into his home to provide an in depth look at life on a farm. One of his biggest joys was taking children for their first combine ride and watching their eyes light up as they drove.
