Feb. 16 is the deadline for Spire Missouri natural gas customers to comment on surcharge increase

JEFFERSON CITY – Time is runing out for individual Spire Missouri, Inc. (Spire) customers to file comments with the Missouri Public Service Commission regarding the utility’s application with the seeking to increase the infrastructure system replacement surcharge (ISRS).

The surcharge first appeared on Spire East and Spire West customer’s natural gas bills in 2004.

Spire seeks the increase to reflect infrastructure replacement investments made by the natural gas company since September 1, 2023. These costs for natural gas pipeline replacements and relocations are not currently included in Spire’s rates.

The current ISRS for residential customers of Spire East is $0.75 a month. Spire East residential customers would pay an ISRS of $1.48 a month under Spire’s application.

The current ISRS for residential customers of Spire West is $1.79 a month. Spire West residential customers would pay an ISRS of $3.24 a month under Spire’s application.

Applications to intervene and participate in this case must be filed no later than February 16, 2024, with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102, or by using the Commission’s Electronic Filing and Information System (EFIS) at www.psc.mo.gov .
