A funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024 for 90-year-old Elder Mehring of Red Bud, Illinois, who passed away at 8:46 pm, Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, Illinois.
He was born June 3, 1933 in Red Bud, Illinois, son of Paul and Clara (nee Voss) Mehring, who both preceded him in death.
He married Pearl M. Stellhorn on September 21, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Prairie, (Red Bud) Illinois; she preceded him in death on October 31, 2022.
He is survived by two children: Robin (Joe) Groner of the state of Arizona and Barry (Susie) Mehring of Red Bud, Ill.; a sister-in-law: Verna Caron of Red Bud, Ill.; several grandchildren, great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter: Stacy Mehring
He was a carpenter.
He was an Army Veteran and of the Lutheran faith.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the Pechacek Funeral Home, Red Bud, Illinois.

Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Prairie (Red Bud), Illinois.
