Pedestrian bridge damaged in Friday accident

STE. GENEVIEVE — Ste. Genevieve Police say no one was injured late Friday morning when a 1994 maroon in color S-10 pick up went out of control on an icy patch and slid off St. Mary Road striking the approach to the pedestrian bridge over the South Gabouri Creek in front of the Green Tree Tavern.

The pickup then went nose first down the embankment.

Ste. Genevieve Police Lt. Ryan Pollock said the 16-year-old driver and his passenger were not hurt, but the pick up had moderate damage and was towed by Ste. Genevieve Co. Towing.

The crash happened about 11:32 a.m.
