The High Caliber Shooting Team is a division of The Scholastic Action Shooting Program. It was started in 2022 by Michael and Jeannie Schaefer. The team provides student athletes ages 10 through 18 with a supportive environment focusing on respect of firearms, team building, and self-improvement. Shooters are focused on speed and accuracy using a rimfire and centerfire rifle and pistol aiming at metal targets in a variety of formations.
On Dec. 2, 2023, The local chapter of Whitetails Unlimited, Southern Illinois Rack Attack, made a generous donation of $1,500 to The High Caliber Shooting Team. Their donation will help pay for entry fees, ammunition, and other supplies for the team. The team greatly appreciates their generosity and support.
