JEFFERSON CITY — Three persons were hurt, one of them seriously, in a traffic crash on Route A in Perry County Friday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 19-year-old Trent J. Paullus of Jackson was taken by Air Evac helicopter to SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

18-year-old Canyon B. Leimer of Jackson had moderate injuries and was taken to SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital by ARCH helicopter.

34-year-old David A. Mahurin of Altenburg also had moderate injuries and was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau by Mercy EMS.

The patrol says the crash happened when Mahurin, who was driving a 2000 Chevrolet 2500 east on A, attempted to make a left turn into a private driveway and his pickup collided with a westbound 2003 Hyundai Sonata driven by Leimer. Paullus was a passenger in the Sonata.

After the impact both vehicles burned.

The patrol says none of the three were buckled up.

The crash happened about 5:43 p.m. west of Chipmunk Lane.
