A private family event will be held to honor 80-year-old Albert Joseph Fults of Festus who passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City.
Mr. Fults attended the University of Missouri Columbia for horticulture and business.
He then worked with his parents in the family business, Fults Florist, in Crystal City.
He was in the Missouri National Guard.
He retired from Ameren UE Rush Island where he was a pipefitter.
He and his wife, Patti, raised Polled Hereford cattle and had a farm in Ste. Genevieve County for more than 40 years.
After moving to Festus, he reunited with his graduating class of 1961. He loved spending time with his family and had many hobbies which included wine making and enjoying his vintage Camaro with the top down.
He was a member of the Elks 1721 in Festus, as well as the Missouri Extension and 4-H club. He was active with the Historical Society of Crystal City and previously Ste. Genevieve Historical society. He served as Ste. Genevieve County commissioner and was politically driven.
Born Aug. 3, 1943, in Bonne Terre, he was the son of the late Hazel Mae (Kuchlin) and Zeno Joseph Fults.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Patricia A. (Roth) Fults of Festus; two children: David Brian Fults of Festus and Sarah Ann (Stephen) Bauer of Festus; a brother: Robert “Bob” (Betty) Fults of Elvins; a sister-in-law: Michele (John) Kuster of Pevely; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Marty Roth; and a sister-in-law: Pam (David survives of Herculaneum) Herrell.
A private family event will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
