JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is soliciting ideas for environmental improvement projects. The Department is planning to develop a statewide grant application to secure a portion of the $5 billion in federal funding available through the Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) Program.
If successful, we will then distribute funds to entities who submitted project ideas which were chosen for inclusion in the grant application. We are looking for project ideas ranging in costs as low as $10,000 and up to $75 million that would be ready to implement in the Fall of 2024 or shortly thereafter if funding is secured.
Please fill out the following short project idea form by December 10, 2023, and if your project is a good fit we will get back to you in January to gather more information:
Eligible projects for the grant are those that either reduce greenhouse gas emissions or pull greenhouse gas emissions out of the atmosphere. The following list includes the general project categories that would be eligible, although there may be others.
- Renewable Energy Projects (solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal, etc.)
- Energy Storage Projects (pumped hydroelectric, batteries, hydrogen, etc.)
- Energy Efficiency (building weatherization, energy star appliances, smart thermostats)
- Fuel Conversions (coal-to-gas, gas-to-hydrogen, etc. for industrial processes and energy generation)
- Electric Conversions (for vehicles, appliances, industrial operations, etc.)
- Land Use and Waste Management (afforestation, urban greening, waste reduction, recycling, etc.)
