STE. GENEVIEVE — Three persons were wounded Friday morning in Ste. Genevieve in what has been described as case of domestic violence.
Dispatch was notified of the incident shortly after 10 a.m., when the shooting was reported at 465 West Market Street.
Initially dispatchers told responding officers that two persons were wounded, one with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and the other with a leg wound. On arrival, officers discovered there was a third victim who was reported to have been shot three times.
Two of the subjects, a 39-year-old female and a 41-year-old, are being treated for their injuries in a St. Louis area hospital. Police say they do not know their current conditions.
The suspect with the self-inflicted gunshot wound was also transported to a St. Louis area hospital where he is expected to survive.
The suspect has been identified as 33-year-old Brian Wipfler of Ste. Genevieve who faces multiple charges:
Two counts of first-degree domestic assault, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action.
No bond has been set.
