Southeast Missouri state rep seeks to prevent Gaza Refugee Resettlement in Missouri

LESTERVILLE – In response to escalating conflict in the middle east, State Representative Chris Dinkins took a bold stance on Monday by urging Governor Michael Parson to proactively prevent the resettlement of Palestinian refugees from Gaza in the state of Missouri.

In a letter addressed to Governor Parson, Representative Dinkins emphasized the need for a proactive approach to safeguard the well-being and security of Missouri citizens. “I have zero confidence in the ability of the Biden Administration to effectively vet refugees from Gaza before entering our country,” stated Representative Dinkins. “It is imperative that we prioritize the safety and values of our state and take a clear stand in opposition to refugee resettlement in Missouri.”

Representative Dinkins echoed the sentiments of many Missourians who harbor concerns about welcoming individuals from regions with belief systems rooted in anti-American and anti-Israel sentiments. She highlighted the recent terrorist attacks orchestrated by Hamas, pointing to the divisive and dangerous ideologies that individuals from the Gaza Strip may bring with them. “The celebrations of these attacks by Hamas supporters and sympathizers have further raised concerns about the potential threat these individuals pose to our citizens here on American soil,” added Representative Dinkins.

Calling for executive action, Representative Dinkins urged Governor Parson to proactively prohibit the resettlement of any Palestinian refugees from Gaza in Missouri. “Our state has a responsibility to protect its citizens and uphold the values that define us as Americans,” she asserted. “We cannot afford to compromise the safety and security of Missourians by allowing the entry of individuals who may harbor hostility towards our nation and its allies.”

By taking a proactive stance against the resettlement of Palestinian refugees from Gaza, Representative Dinkins aims to send a strong message about the commitment to the safety, values, and well-being of the people of Missouri. She emphasized the importance of stopping a potential threat before it occurs.

Representative Dinkins is the Republican Caucus Chairwoman.  Her district spans Wayne, Shannon, Madison, Reynolds, Iron, Washington, and Bollinger counties in southeast Missouri.
