Kenneth Ray Yarbrough was born on September 6, 1939. He was raised in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri where he met his wife, Janet Yarbrough. They were married 59 years before Janet passed away in September 2021 with Ken by her side. Ken went home to be with his savior Jesus Christ on October 10, 2023.
He is survived by his oldest son Todd (Jenny) and youngest son Chad, as well as his four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Ken and Janet were married in 1962 and lived in Japan for four years while he was in the Air Force. Following his service, they moved to St. Louis where Ken worked at Savings and Loan institutions until accepting a job with the U.S. Small Business Administration where he worked until his retirement. For the next four years Ken and Janet roamed the country traveling and seeing the sites of the American West. He was always happy to discuss and relive his favorite and most scenic places they visited. Ken and Janet moved officially to Florida in 2014 after splitting time between Florida and St. Louis for six years. They became members of Fort Myers Evangelical Free Church where they embraced and were themselves embraced by their fellow church members.
Ken was perhaps at his happiest sitting in his handmade tree stand on the opening morning of deer season. This was an annual pilgrimage. He thought about hunting all year and was proud to hunt with his children and grandchildren. As hobbies, Ken loved to fish and handload his own bullets where he filled notebooks with measurements and observations on the loads he made for friends and family. The thing he was most proud of was taking care of Janet when she needed in-home dialysis. For over five years he was her nurse, caring for her and supporting her. In his care for her, there was never a day off nor was there any feeling except that he was blessed to be there and able to care for her. He loved Jesus with all his heart and is now in heaven reunited with his beloved Janet looking down and smiling on us right now.
