Veterans Day Ceremony planned at Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial

PERRYVILLE, Mo. – Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial (MNVM) invites everyone to come to the memorial, Saturday, November 11th at 11 a.m, to show appreciation and gratitude for the men and women who have served in the armed forces.

Veterans Day is a time to reflect on the freedoms and liberties we enjoy because of the sacrifices made by veterans.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their children or grandchildren to the ceremony as Veterans Day can be an excellent opportunity to teach them about the importance of service, sacrifice, and the value of freedom.

Command Sergeant Major (Ret.), Marvin L. Hill, will be the Veterans Day speaker. Throughout CSM Hill’s military career, he was awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Bronze Star Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal for Valor, Combat Action Badge and many others.

CSM Hill’s overseas deployments included Sinai, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq, as well as his stateside involvement in the responses to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

After 35 years of selfless service, CSM Hill retired and is currently working in the private sector as a Project Manager for FedEx Freight where he focuses on Veteran Initiatives and Programs.

Additionally, this Veterans Day the museum will unveil its newest acquisition: A 1954 Willys jeep.

Over the last two academic school years, the jeep has been restored by the talented instructors and incredible students at Perryville Area Career and Technology Center.

The youth are the leaders and veterans of tomorrow, so what these students have done is truly invaluable and their hard work will be cherished for many years to come.

The MNVM Welcome Center and Museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Veterans Day.
