Ste. Genevieve man seriously injured in Highway 61 crash

JEFFERSON CITY – A 29-year-old Ste Genevieve man suffered serious injuries in a traffic crash on Highway 61 in Ste. Genevieve Wednesday morning.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Ryan Mattison was taken to St. Louis University Hospital by an Air Evac helicopter.

 

The patrol says the crash happened when the southbound 2012 Mazda 3 Mattison was driving struck the rear of the trailer being towed by a 1998 Western Star tractor which was in the process of towing.

 

The driver of the semi: 27-year-old Chase M. Asmus of Benton, was not hurt.

 

The patrol says neither driver was buckled up.

 

The semi had minor damage to the trailer and was driven from the scene.

 

The Mazda was a total loss and was removed by Ste. Genevieve County Towing.

 

The crash happened about 8:13 a.m. near Market Street.
