Raymond C. Mueller

Raymond C. Mueller, 96, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 10:32 am, Friday, October 6, 2023 at Blessing Hospital, Quincy, Illinois.

He was born to the late Henry O. and Josephine (nee Bollman) Mueller on December 8, 1926 in Chester, Illinois.

Raymond married Leona Darnstaedt on August 20, 1949 at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, Illinois; she preceded him in death on February 26, 2003.

He was a retired correctional officer from Menard Correctional Center in Chester. He also farmed with his brother Robert.

The most important part of Raymond’s life was his faith in Jesus Christ, his Savior. Ray was a lifelong, active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester where he had held many offices including the cemetery committee. He was also a member of the Lutheran Braille Workers. He was known as the taxi service for a few church members and would bus them to church and back. Raymond was a member of the V.F.W. Post #3553 and the American Legion Post #487 in Chester. He enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. Many people will miss driving down Palestine Road and seeing Raymond on his swing waving his big Mickey Mouse hand.
