Illinois House Republicans discuss findings released this week by the Illinois Auditor General

SPRINGFIELD – During a Friday morning press conference, Illinois House Republicans, led by House Republican Leader Tony McCombie discussed problems brought forth this week by two Illinois Auditor General reports dealing with state agencies.

One Auditor General report shows more failures at DCFS….more failures than in the last review, but with similar promises from the agency to improve.  The department’s misfires include waiting days and weeks and months to notify authorities – from prosecutors to school districts – when calamity strikes.

Another Auditor General report shows that the Illinois Department of Corrections has failed to keep other law enforcement agencies current on sex offenders in their towns.

Another hearing this week showed problems with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.   The hearing called attention to the severity of issues in the professional licensing process, especially in industries Illinois residents need the most.

Leader McCombie said there is excuse after excuse, blaming previous agency directors, budgets, staffing needs and more.   She said we need to acknowledge the problems and that the reports provide answers as to where the actual faults lie.
