ST. LOUIS – On Saturday eastern Missouri Girl Scouts launched their Treats & Reads Program businesses!
Girl Scouts start marketing their business by going door-to-door and promoting their online sites, offering customers an opportunity to fund extraordinary leadership experiences by purchasing magazine subscriptions, and delicious candy and nuts.
Through the Treats & Reads Program, the region’s young entrepreneurs are hard at work mastering the following skills: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics. Girl Scouts are discovering how to set goals, create a budget, handle money, find their voice and navigate business challenges ethically and responsibly. These crucial lessons will help them be leaders in their schools and communities while also creating more opportunities for Girl Scouts to explore their world on new adventures.
“I enjoy participating in Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri’s Treats & Reads program because I earn funds for my troop to do exciting things.” said Emery Freebersyser, Girl Scout Brownie. “My troop is able to purchase the patches and badges for our uniforms and we get to go on big adventures like overnights to the St. Louis Zoo or try something new like a cooking class!”
Community service is a considerable part of Girl Scouting and integral to Treats & Reads. Through Project Thank You, a customer may choose to donate $5 to the troop. Each $5 donation will gift one can of nuts or candy to military service personnel, veterans, and those in need.
Available 2023 Treats & Reads products include: Chocolate Covered Almonds, Cheddar Caramel Crunch, Chocolate Covered Pretzels in a holiday tin, Dark Chocolate Caramel Caps with Seas Salt, Dark Chocolate Mint Penguins, Deluxe Pecan clusters, Dulce De Leche Owls, English Butter Toffee, Fruit Slices, Honey Roasted Peanuts, Hot Cajun Crunch, Mint Treasures in a Girl Scout Memories Tin, Peanut Butter Bears, Peanut Butter Trail Mix and Whole Cashews with Sea Salt
