Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen meets

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve Board of Alderment met in regular and work sessions last night in its temporary city hall at 44 Plaza Drive.

 

Staff reports were presented by:

 

 Assistant Police Chief Ryan Pollock presented the report prepared by Police Chief Jasen Crump:

 

 

 

Community Development Administrator Dave Bova presented his community development report:

 

 

 

The aldermen approved the consent agenda, which included one resolution:

 

Resolution 2023-67 states the intent of the city apply for a Missouri Department of Natural Resources Grant for FY 24 to develop a walking tour app for historic Ste. Genevieve, as amended, was approved.

 

Three items of old business were approved:

 

Bill No. 4583 – a budget amendment relating to various reveue and expenditure increases, was approved on a second reading 8-0.

 

Bill No. 4584 – a memorandum of agreement with Alliance Water Resources Inc.was approved 8-0 on second reading 8-0.

 

Bill No. 4585 – approving the annual budget of the city of Ste. Genevieve, approved on a second reading 8-0.

 

The aldermen also approved 8-0 a quote for purchase and installation of a Genasys Mass Notification System for an emergency alert texting program.

 

The following measures were on the agenda for first round action:

 

Bill No. 4586 – approving the purchase of 12 tasers from Axon Enterprise Inc. for $49,132.80 with maintenance and replacement over a 60-month contract was approved on first and second reading by 8-0 votes.

 

Bill No. 4587 – a change order for $21,005 to the contract with Jokerst Inc. for the street repaving project was approved on first and second reading by 8-0 votes.

 

Bill No. 4588 – providing for the issuance of special tax bills for sidewalk improvements approved on a first round vote 8-0.

The board then adjourned to a work session. (Editor’s note: No votes and no official actions can be taken during a work session.)

 

The aldermen discussed the problems of heavy trash trucks traveling on city streets, damaging the road surface. The aldermen have previously rejected the idea of contracting with one trash hauler to reduce the number of trips that the trash trucks make and last night discussed establing weight limits for trucks on certain city streets.

 

The aldermen also discussed a request from a landowner adjacent to the city property along Progress Parkway. He would like to have an access drive provided to him across the city property. The aldermen discussed the issue for several minutes.

 

The aldermen also discussed the street improvement program for the next fiscal year.
