Parade Information
With multiple bands, floats, and class trailers, the St. Vincent Alumni boasts one of the largest homecoming parades in Southeast Missouri. Although there are some slight changes since it’s beginning, the parade has been a tradition of Homecoming for over 70 years. Whether you’re a participant or a spectator, we hope you enjoy this tradition of the St. Vincent Alumni.
Each graduating class is encouraged to get a group of classmates together to ride in the parade. Cars, trucks, and trailers with decorations and class year are all acceptable. We always reserve a spot for each class and there’s no sign-up required.
All reunion classes are encouraged to participate in our annual parade float competition. Even if your class is not celebrating a reunion year, you can still enter in our competition! If you would like to enter into the competition, here are the rules you should follow and the scoring criteria we use:
Parade Float Competition Rules:
Floats must be themed in school colors (blue & gold).
The year of graduation must be displayed.
The width of the float must be thirteen (13) feet or less. There is no limit on the length.
No crude or graphic content or content that is against the Alumni’s or High School’s virtues is allowed.
The consumption of alcohol on or near the float (including non-class members) is not allowed.
A representative of the class must be present with the float at all times from the initial line-up for the parade until after half-time of the football game.
Participants failing to meet these requirements shall be disqualified from the competition.
Parade Float Competition Scoring:
Overall Theme (40 points)

The judges of the competition are non-Alumni members selected at random. The Alumni Association Board of Directors does not participate in the judging and do no select the judges. The scoring of the judges are final. In the event of a tie, the older graduating class will be deemed the winner.
