A funeral will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 for 86-year-old Barbara Ann Ladwig of Red Bud, Ill., passed away at 6:14 pm, Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the Garden Place in Columbia, Ill.
She was born March 7, 1937, daughter of Vernon and Frieda (nee Landmann) Bockhorn in Walsh, Ill., who both preceded her in death.
Barbara married Allen Schrader on February 23, 1963 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Steeleville, Illinois; he preceded her in death on August 25, 1985.
On June 25, 1988, Barbara married William Ladwig at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Bud, Illinois; he preceded her in death on September 4, 2002.
She is survived by five sons: Mark (Shelley Schrader of Edwardsville, Ill., Tim (Monica) Schrader of Columbia, Ill., Tony Schrader of Denver, Colo., Ted (Angie) Schrader of Columbia, Ill., and Donald (Kimberly Harms) Schrader of Red Bud, Ill.; two stepchildren: Jim (Linda) Ladwig of Ballwin, Mo.
and Linda (Jeff) Robbins of Commerce Charter Township, Mich.; one brother: Danny (Pauline) Bockhorn of Effingham, Ill.; 13 grandchildren: Sydney, Madi, Oliver, Annie, Chase, Riley and Baxter Schrader; Jordan (Ryan) Spicer; Bailey Lawson; Whitney (Kevin) Schuette; Brian Ladwig; Christina Robbins; and Jennifer Robbins; eight stepgrandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was also preceded in death by: three brothers: Robert (Sally) Bockhorn, Donald “Red” Bockhorn, and Jimmie Bockhorn, and a sister-in-law: Marilyn (Lester) Rodieck.
Barbara was a 1955 graduate of Sparta High School.
She was a devoted member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Bud, Ill., and participated in many church activities.
Barbara was a fun loving member of many organizations including The Red Hat Ladies, North County Country Club Women’s Golf League and her bowling league.
She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren as well as traveling, golfing and shopping.
Visitation will be 9-12 noon Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Bud, Ill.
A funeral for 86-year-old Barbara Ann Ladwig of Red Bud, Ill., will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, September 23, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Ill. The Revs. Mark Nebel and Brian Nowak will officiate.
Interment will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Red Bud, Ill.
