STE. GENEVIEVE – Valle Catholic High School is celebrating its homecoming week.

Several events mark the occasion, including a pep rally, parade, homecoming court, a grand marshal, dance, Mass and of course a homecoming football game. This year’s opponent is the Potosi Trojans.

Valle Catholic Schools has announced that Ron Basler is the 2023 Homecoming Grand Marshal.

Ron has lived in Bloomsdale most of his life, and graduated from Valle in 1960.

He married Henrietta Bahr, also a member of the class of ’60 in 1964.

All six of their children attended St. Agnes Elementary School and are Valle Catholic graduates: Sharon ’83, Craig ’85, Lynette ’88, Jeff ’92, Chris ’94 and Matt ’01.

Ron has 14 grandchildren. Trevor, Colby, Andrew and Isaac (pictured) are students at Valle Catholic High School.

Camryn graduated from Valle Catholic in 2022. Trevor, Colby, Andrew and Isaac are current students at Valle Catholic High School.

Ron’s faith, family and the institutions that support them are central to who Ron is. He is so proud of Valle and how his children benefited from their experience. This is strongly reflected in his support for our school as a regular booster and consistent cheerleader at sporting events. He recognizes the important role that Valle sports play in building leadership, cultivating and focusing young minds, and building community across generations.

Ron is rarely seen without his Valle cap, and if he were able, he wouldn’t ever miss a football practice, let alone a game.
