CHESTER – On Thursday September 7 the Chester High School Boys Golf Team traveled to Nashville, Illinois to compete in the 2023 Nashville Invitational.
The 15-team field of schools in competition included Belleville Althoff, Breese Mater Dei, Central Community, CHESTER, Greenville, Okawville, Pinckneyville, Sparta, Steeleville, Wesclin, Gibault, DuQuoin, Carterville, Murphysboro, and Nashville.
The YellowJackets finished 7th in the field of 15 teams, just above the middle of the pack. This was a 9-hole event. Of the six varsity players, all Chester golfers scored 50 or above for the nine holes.
CHS freshman golfer, Trevin Eggemeyer, had a good day Thursday September 7 at the 2023 Nashville Invitational Tournament. Eggemeyer finished in Chester’s top-four golfers with his round of 46 strokes to help his team place 7th out of 15 teams at the 9-hole event. The Jackets had a team score of 172 for the day. The Jackets were led by freshman Tallen James who shot 41 for the day. Just one stroke behind James was junior Brenden Malley who had a score of 42. Evan Dunning, a junior, was Chester’s No. 3 golfer with his game of 43 strokes. Rounding out the top-four YellowJacket golfers was freshman Trevin Eggemeyer who recorded a score of 46. The Jackets had a team score of 172.
Other varsity competitors in the match included senior Lucas Thompson who turned a score of 47 and Chester’s Max Blechle, a junior, had a game of 50 strokes.
The Jackets will return to action this week when they will host a match with Cahokia Conference Illinois Division Red Bud Musketeers Tuesday September 12 at the Chester Country Club at 4:00 P.M. and Thursday September 14 they will travel to the Anna Golf Course to compete against Cobden at 3:30 P.M.
