Chester Boy’s Golf finishes 2nd at home triangular match

Brenden Malley and Lucas Thompson lead Jackets with scores of 39 strokes

CHESTER The Chester High School Boy’s Golf Team hosted Sparta and Steeleville in a triangular match Thursday September 5 at the Chester Country Club. It was a warm day with a slight breeze but temperatures were in the low 80’s making it a rather comfortable round of golf for the 18 boys who competed.

 

The Sparta Bulldogs won the match with a score of 159 team strokes followed by Chester (172) and Steeleville (181).  For the day the YellowJackets recorded one win and one loss.

The Jackets were led by juniors Brenden Malley (1) and Evan Dunning (2). Both boys shot 39 in the match and tied Sparta’s Mason Ethington and Jack Loesing for low scores of the match. Chester’s No. 3 golfer for the day was freshman Tallen James who shot 41.

The Jacket’s No. 4 and No. 5 golfers in the event were Junior Max Blechle (4) and senior Lucas Thompson (5). Both Blechle and Thompson had identical scores of 48 strokes in the 9-hole match. Rounding out the Chester lineup was freshman Trevin Eggemeyer who shot 51.

Sparta was also led by two golfers, both seniors. Mason Ethington (1) and Jack Loesing (2) each had scores of 39 strokes. Just one stroke behind the Bulldog leaders was sophomore Grant Allard who turned in a score card of 40 strokes.

Senior James Pillers shot one stroke behind Allard with a game of 41. Jake Wesbecher, a junior, shot 54 in the event while freshman Tyler Heinen rounded out the Bulldog outing with a score of 57 strokes.

Steeleville’s top golfer was Trenton Lively, a sophomore, who shot 41. Just three strokes behind Lively was sophomore Carson Rednour who had a round of 44 strokes. Three strokes behind Rednour was senior Noah Fiene. Fiene recorded a game of 47 strokes.

Juniors Canon Ruby (4) and Tyler Ingles (5) had matching scores of 49 for the day. Rounding out the Warrior’s performance was junior Trenton Ingles who shot 62 in the competition.

The YellowJackets, under first year Head Coach, Jaden Mott and long-time Assistant Coach, Paul Zemlyn, will play again this Thursday September 7 at Nashville. The bus will leave CHS at 2:00 p.m. and the match till tee-off at 3:30 p.m.
