A funeral will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 for 86-year-old Lawrence J Schmidt Jr. of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., who passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, Mo.
He was born May 24, 1937 in Ste Genevieve, Mo., the son of Lawrence Schmidt, Sr. and Mary Ann (Bonnarens) Schmidt, who both preceded him in death.
Married to Kathleen (Naeger) Schmidt on May 25, 1963. She survives in Ste. Genevieve.
He is survived by a daughter: Cheryl (Gary) Martin of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; three sons: Steven (Debbie) Schmidt of Wentzville, Mo., Randy (Meg) Schmidt of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., and Larry (Danna) Schmidt of Saint Mary, Mo.; grandchildren: Jennifer and Brooke; Lauren and Lindsey; Jessica and Ashley; Kelsey and Wade; five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by: five sisters: Christine Meyer, Edna Stolzer, Helen Politte, Anna Marie Drury and Marcella Vaughn.
He was a member of American Legion Post 150 and the Church of Ste. Genevieve.
Larry was a successful and active farmer for most of his 86 years.
He loved spending time tending his cattle and visiting with his family – especially his grand and great grandchildren.
He had many friends in the community and he LOVED country music, making his rounds in several different local bands. One of his favorite things to do was to perform for residents of the local senior care center.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. at the Church of Ste. Genevieve in Sainte Genevieve, Mo. Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 9-11 a.m.

Burial will be at Valle Spring Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve, Mo. with full military honors
