MSHP Lieutenant Kevin W. Malugen promoted

JEFFERSON CITY — Colonel Eric T. Olson, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the following promotion:

 

 

Lieutenant Kevin W. Malugen (C) is being promoted to captain and designated commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, MO, effective September 1, 2023.

 

Malugen joined the Patrol on July 1, 1994, as a member of the 67th Recruit Class. Upon graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop B, Zone 3, Linn and Chariton counties.

 

In 1997, he transferred to Troop C, Zone 14, St. Francois and Washington counties. Malugen transferred to the Field Operations Bureau, General Headquarters in 1999, as a member of the Patrol’s Major Crash Investigation Unit.

 

He was promoted to corporal in 2000 and sergeant in 2003 while assigned to the MCIU.

 

Malugen was promoted to lieutenant and transferred to Troop C, Weldon Spring, in 2018.

 

Captain Malugen grew up in Potosi, Mo. He graduated from Potosi High School in 1986.

 

Malugen attended Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Mo. He completed Leadership in Police Organizations training in 2016 and graduated from the FBI National Academy Session 286 in 2023.

 

Captain Malugen and his wife have three grown children.
