A funeral will be held today, Monday, August 14, 2023 for 65-year-old Jeffrey John Layton of Cape Girardeau who passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, at his home.
He was born June 29, 1958, in St. Louis to Jerry and Betty Schweiss Layton. His father preceded him in death, his monther survives in Ste. Genevieve.
He and Cynthia Grither were married Aug. 24, 1979, at Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. She survives in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors also include a sister: Lori (Ron) Reinagel of Kelso, Missouri; two brothers: Tom (Connie Wisdom) Layton of Ste. Genevieve and Tim (Annita) Layton of Cape Girardeau; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle and friend.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Cape Girardeau.
Visitation was 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, August 13, 2023 with parish prayers at 3 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
A funeral mass for 65-year-old Jeffrey John Layton of Cape Girardeau will be at 10 a.m. today, Monday, Aug. 14, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
