Charles Henerey

Henerey, Charles “Charlie”, 81, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Sunday July 30, 2023.

Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth “Betty” Henerey (nee Meyer), dear father to Richard (Bridgette) Henerey, Lisa (John) Schulte, and Brian (Anna) Henerey.

Doting grandpa of seven. Dear brother of the late Mary (Jim) Gloeckner and Michael Henerey. Charlie was born in St. Louis, MO on July 30, 1942 to Charles and Eleanora Henerey.

He grew up with his two siblings in Webster Groves and attended Holy Redeemer for grade school and St. Louis Preparatory Seminary South for High School.

He then received his undergraduate degree from St. Louis University. After graduation he began teaching in The St. Louis County Special School District and then for the Archdiocese of St. Louis while he earned his Masters degree from University of Missouri St. Louis.

Charlie always had a passion for cars so he began his career with General Motors as a Reliability Engineer. His gift of speaking to anyone and not knowing a stranger as well as his technical skills led him into sales and he spent most of his years with Allied Signal (Bendix) as a Senior Account Manager.

Here he won many sales awards and mentored new hires.

When Charlie retired he knew he needed to stay busy and social so he purchased two antique vehicles: a 1930 Model A and a 1936 Ford. He soon joined the Ford Early V-8 Club of America and The Missouri Valley Region Model A Restorers Club where he served as president.

He loved his time with these organizations and made many friends that shared his same passion for cars. He also spent lots of time with his seven grandkids, driving them on their shopping trips, picking up carpool, attending their activities and enjoying sweet treats with them.

Charlie’s most important role was in caring for Betty during her 30 year battle with Cancer.

He drove her to countless medical appointments filled her many prescriptions and took care of everything when she wasn’t able to. Everyone who knew Charlie remarked that he was welcoming to everyone he met.

He was an expert on so many things and had a wealth of information on a variety of topics.

He will be missed and the world will be a lot quieter without him.
