PERRYVILLE – Storms played havoc with Citizens Electric Corporation installations Wednesday in both Perry and Ste. Genevieve Counties with 1,686 members still out of power Thursday morning; mainly in Perry and Ste Genevieve Counties.
Three contract crews assisted CEC crews with two contract crews working in Ste Gen county and one in Perry county.
The district crews from Cape Girardeau county were assisting restoration in Ste. Gen county.
Downed tree limbs as well as some high water in roadways slowed progress.
Most outages were caused by lightning affecting transformers and trees bringing down power lines.
Citizens Electric crews supported by contract crews made progress toward restoring electric service as approximately 1,200 members had power restored since early Thursday morning with another 800 members still without service as of 2 p.m. Thursday.
Most of the damage has been tree limbs on wires, broken conductors, with a few broken poles.
CEC said members in Perry County who were still out should have had power restored by Thursday afternoon and members in Ste. Genevieve County should have had their power restored by yesterday evening.
