STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. – The University of Missouri Extension in Ste. Genevieve announces the upcoming 3rd Annual Resources to Recovery event on August 2nd, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m at the Progress Sports Complex.
This year’s event will delve into “The Effects of Substance Use Disorder in Maternal and Childhood Health.” The main objective is to raise awareness and disseminate knowledge about the profound impact of substance use disorder on the health and well-being of mothers and children.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a day filled with insightful discussions and valuable information from esteemed speakers. The event’s agenda includes personal stories of successful recovery, expert perspectives on supporting mothers during pregnancy, specialized care for substance-exposed newborns, and the impact of maternal substance use disorder on childhood learning.
Additionally, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, parents and guardians can step inside an interactive exhibit titled “Inside a Teenager’s Bedroom” by Hidden in Plain View to discover warning signs that could indicate risky activities, such as alcohol and drug use, among youth. This exhibit will provide valuable insights on how to approach kids with open dialogue and protect them from potential dangers, ultimately working together to create a safe and supportive environment for our community’s young minds.
We cordially invite all professionals in the field to join us at the 3rd Annual Resources to Recovery event. Together, we can shed light on the challenges faced by mothers and children impacted by substance use disorder, paving the way for a healthier and brighter future for families.
This event is funded by a RX Cares for Missouri grant and is conducted by Community Services Forum, Resources to Recovery, MU Extension, and Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital. For more information and registration details, please contact MU Extension at (573) 883-3548
