Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park hosts Perseid meteor shower viewing Aug. 12

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park will host a viewing of the Perseid meteor shower Saturday, Aug. 12 at 8:30 p.m.

Come out to the monument field at Babler, where members of the St. Louis Astronomical Society will have telescopes set up to offer visitors a view of the night sky. Telescopes will be pointed at a variety of objects and we hope to see some shooting stars from the Perseid meteor shower after it gets dark.

Everyone is encouraged to bring warm clothes, closed-toe shoes, insect repellent, chairs, blankets, binoculars and red flashlights.

Parking will be available at the visitor center parking lot and across the road next to the mailboxes, behind the statue and along the road.

Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park is located at 800 Guy Park Drive in Wildwood, west of St. Louis. For more information, please call 636-458-3813.
