Gerald Joseph Basler 83 years old of Bloomsdale, Mo. passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, Mo.

He was born June 3, 1940 in Bloomsdale, Mo.

He married Marjorie “Margie” (Klein) Basler on October 28, 1961, she survives in Bloomsdale.

 

He is also survived by two sons: Michael Wayne (Sue) Basler of Bloomsdale and Stephen Gerard (Delores) Basler of Bloomsdale, Mo.; three daughters: Annette Marie (Kevin) Hermann of Bloomsdale, Mo., Cheryl Lynn (Daniel) Vines of Bloomsdale, Mo., and Karen Sue (Eric) Huck of Bloomsdale, Mo.; grandchildren: Amanda (Jonathan) Picou, Dana (Joshua) Carlisle, Keith (Courtney) Hermann, Brian (Jessica) Hermann, Breanne (Tim) Keathley, Adam (Trisha) Basler, Ethan (Anna) Basler, Elizabeth (Steve Beyatte) Basler, Waylon Vines, Cody (Kayla) Vines, Megan (Kurt) Bahr, Tyler (Jess Gonzalez) Huck; great-grandchildren: Ruby and Jack Picou, Kaylie and Emily Carlisle, Jacob and Emma Hermann, Brooklyn and Kevin Hermann II, Jaxson and Jamison Keathley, Ayeden, Ryker and Zaxtyn Basler, Paisley and Piper Beyatte, Myla and Ella Bahr, and two more great-grandchildren on the way;

Gerald was a member of Bloomsdale Knights of Columbus, Ste Genevieve Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, and Bloomsdale Fire Department for over 30 years.

 

He was also a past Cub Scout and Boy Scout Master.

 

Gerald was a loving husband and father and enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.

 

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2023 and 8:30-9:45 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

 

Service will be at Church of Ste. Genevieve on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 10 a.m.

 

The clergy will be Father Benz and Father Edward Nemeth.

 

Burial will follow at Valle Spring Cemetery in Ste Genevieve, Mo.
